Grayson McGraw, founder of Saltwater Souls Counseling in St. Petersburg, Florida.

About Grayson McGraw

Originally from the Midwest, I've had the privilege of living on both coasts and overseas, experiences that have profoundly shaped my approach to therapy in the Tampa Bay area.

My passion for psychology and helping others led me to a fulfilling career in mental health counseling. Having walked my own path to healing, I deeply understand that the journey toward mental health can be challenging, painful, and at times, daunting. I see therapy as an adventure—one of self-discovery and growth, where we explore not only who you have been but also who you are becoming.

This journey is complex and demanding, yet incredibly rewarding, and I am here to support you every step of the way. Together, we can embark on this transformative journey toward emotional wellness and a more fulfilling life

Why I Started Saltwater Souls Counseling

As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, it’s my honor to run one of the very few private practices in Florida dedicated solely to queer mental health. My mission is to help fellow LGBTQ+ individuals, couples, and families feel truly supported in therapy—and to foster real connection through specialized group circles.

Interests and Hobbies

My deep passion for psychological wellness and mental health counseling extends beyond the therapy room in St. Petersburg. When not working with clients, I recharge through outdoor activities like camping, hiking, or walking around my neighborhood, the vibrant city, or along the serene St. Petersburg beach. These experiences help me stay grounded and enhance my ability to offer effective therapy.

I also enjoy relaxing in my hammock with a good book, soaking up the Florida sun, or spending time with friends. Attending music festivals and enjoying live music bring balance and joy to my life. Additionally, meditation, soccer, reading, and listening to insightful podcasts further enrich my life and deepen my connection with clients, allowing me to provide a holistic therapeutic experience.

Education

As a former Division 1 soccer player at Bradley University, I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. My passion for mental health and helping others led me to the California Institute of Integral Studies, where I completed a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology with a specialization in Integral Psychology.

Although my formal education has concluded, I believe in lifelong learning and continuously expand my expertise through research articles, professional workshops, and personal experiences. This commitment to staying current with the latest therapeutic practices ensures that I provide informed and effective mental health support to my clients.
